Valerie Gommon RM currently not practising as an Iindependent Midwife

For many reasons, not least the impending end of independent midwifery in its’ current form, I have decided that I need to take a break from midwifery. This is personally very hard as I have loved my job with a passion and have enjoyed working with so many lovely, strong women and their families.

Some of my colleagues will continue to practice until the October 2013 deadline and if you are looking for a midwife go to www.independentmidwives.org.uk

We are hopeful that we may be able to find a new way of working after this deadline, however this is currently uncertain.

My aim is for women to be fully informed and active partners in their care. I believe this will empower women and their partners to obtain the most from this precious experience and can then enable them to move forward into parenthood in a positive way.
